Final Project: Animated Video with Caption

Exercise

This task requires us to create a video based on the given script. We need to draw at least three illustrations and add subtitles and background music to the video.

The script I chose is:

“Do not stop thinking of life as an adventure. You have no security unless you can live bravely, excitingly, imaginatively; unless you can choose a challenge instead of competence.”

– Eleanor Roosevelt

My inspiration comes from my own experience. In high school, writing was my way to cope with academic pressure and stay motivated. Like the girl in my animation, I wrote down every story in my heart—no matter how imaginative. Creativity kept me going and reminded me that even in difficult times, we can choose to live with hope and courage.

Many inspirations flooded in. So I quickly started sketching drafts and creating storyboards.

Detailed information

A girl trapped in a dull, repressive world holds a vivid imagination. She feels like a goldfish in a glass jar, slowly losing her spark. Writing becomes her escape—where she becomes both a peacemaker and a brave warrior. Through storytelling, she discovers that imagination is not a distraction, but a lifeline. It keeps her spirit alive and gives her the courage to face reality with strength and hope.

I used a piece of pure music as the background music. The professor provided us with a website that can automatically generate AI voiceovers, and I chose to use it to generate my voiceover audio.

Rationale

This project is inspired by my personal experience. Writing was my way of coping with pressure and finding hope. The girl in the animation represents how imagination and creativity kept me alive inside and gave me the courage to face challenges. This story expresses a simple belief: even in an ordinary life, we can still find light through creativity.

Self Reflection

I found this animation project both challenging and enjoyable. I’ve always been interested in visual storytelling, and this assignment allowed me to combine narrative, design, and sound. I realized how important it is to carefully select visuals and materials that truly reflect the script’s meaning. My biggest challenge was planning the storyboard—thinking about how to express the full message in just a few seconds while keeping everything coherent with narration and background music. Although I’ve improved my planning and design skills, I know I still have room to grow, especially in pacing and visual storytelling techniques.
