Exercise

This task is divided into two parts: complete illustrations and collectible card design. I chose the rabbit from the three characters I designed in task 1. 

For the illustration, my inspiration comes from the fairy tale Thumbelina. I plan to use the golden spiral composition to depict a cute rabbit peacefully sleeping at the center of a sunflower. I first sketched in Procreate.

Next, I followed the instructions to create the line art and color the sketch using the pen tool in AI. I continued to use the techniques from Task 1.

For the collectible card design, I carried over the standing image from Task 1. So my main job is to draw the background and design a card border that reflects the theme.

Rationale

For the illustration, my inspiration comes from the fairy tale Thumbelina. I plan to use the golden spiral composition to depict a cute rabbit peacefully sleeping at the center of a sunflower.

Techniques Applied

In this task, I used the golden spiral composition method. During the drawing process, the main tool I used was the pen tool. It is worth mentioning that when designing the card borders, I discovered the 3D rendering effects in Illustrator, and the patterns created with it are very fun and cute, just like balloons.

Self Reflection

Before we completed this task, the professor introduced us to many different composition techniques, which inspired me greatly. During the process of completing the illustration, I found that I became more proficient with Adobe Illustrator. At the same time, I realized that a good composition has a sense of depth. The division of foreground, middle ground, and background can give the illustration a greater sense of space and storytelling.
